Child is better behaved when home without siblings.<\/p>\n<h3>What does your family do for fun?<\/h3>\n<p>Fun is mostly arranged around our 16p child. Somethings are hard to enjoy so we don&#8217;t do it. Enjoy indoor play areas. Play outside at home. Parks, feed ducks.<\/p>\n<h3>What about your child puts a smile on your face?<\/h3>\n<p>His funny and quirky facial expressions.<\/p>\n<h3>What motivates you to participate in research?<\/h3>\n<p>To find answers.<\/p>\n<h3>How do you feel you are impacting our understanding of the genetic changes being studied in <span class=\"notranslate\">Simons Searchlight<\/span> (16p11.2, 1q21.1, or single gene changes)?<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure.<\/p>\n<h3>What have you learned about your child\u2019s condition from other families?<\/h3>\n<p>That I won&#8217;t know what the future holds. We&#8217;re all as clueless as each other.<\/p>\n<h3>If you could give one piece of advice to someone recently diagnosed with the genetic change in your family, what would it be?<\/h3>\n<p>Don&#8217;t spend every day looking for answers, wondering what if, trying to change things, worrying about the future, because you&#8217;ll turn around a realize you&#8217;re spending way too much time overthinking and worrying and you&#8217;re not enjoying your child grow.<\/p>\n<h3>What is one question you wish researchers could answer about your child\u2019s genetic change?<\/h3>\n<p>Will my child have autism\/ADHD\/mental problems\/language disorder etc. Maybes or increased susceptibility causes more worry.<\/p>\n<h3>Is there anything else you would like to share with other families?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"sm-analyze-page\">\n<div class=\"response-question-list-container sm-corner-a\">\n<div class=\"response-question-list\">\n<div class=\"response-question-container\">\n<div class=\"response-question response-question-type-essay response-question-family-open_ended sm-corner-a spacer-pam \">\n<div class=\"response-question-content\">\n<div class=\"response-container essay ta-response-item\">\n<p class=\"response-text openended-response-text\">Try not to worry too much.
